Foundation Awards Scholarships to 30 Less-Privileged Students for 2026 Academic Year In a heartwarming ceremony attended by board members, community leaders, and proud families, the Bar JUNI & Irene Menakaya Foundation International awarded full scholarships to 30 students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. The scholarships, granted under the Foundation's Less Privileged Education and Scholarship program, cover tuition fees, learning materials, and access to technology for the entire 2026 academic year. The recipients — drawn from primary, secondary, and tertiary educational levels — were selected through a rigorous process that assessed both academic promise and financial need. Special consideration was given to students from single-parent households and those living with disabilities, in keeping with the Foundation's commitment to inclusive educational opportunity. A Legacy Rooted in a Simple Belief The scholarship program is a direct expression of the Foundation's founding principle: My Child Is My Pride. Professor Adaeze C. JUNI Menakaya, whose family has championed education east of the Niger River for generations, spoke movingly at the award ceremony about the transformative power of investing in a child's future. "No child should be denied the chance to learn simply because their family cannot afford it," Professor Menakaya said. "Each scholarship we award is a seed planted — and we are committed to watching every one of these young people flourish." Expanding the Program The Foundation has announced plans to increase the number of scholarships awarded in 2027, with a target of 50 recipients. Donors and partner organizations interested in supporting the scholarship fund are invited to reach out through the Foundation's contact page.
