Foundation Launches RURAL+ Solar Learning Centers in Three Communities The Bar JUNI & Irene Menakaya Foundation International is proud to announce the successful launch of solar-powered learning centers in three rural communities as part of the RURAL+ (Remote Understanding and Rural Access to Learning) Initiative. This landmark achievement represents a significant step forward in the Foundation's commitment to bridging the digital education gap in developing communities. Each center is equipped with solar power infrastructure, internet-enabled devices, and trained facilitators who will guide learners through structured digital and literacy programs. The centers are designed to serve children and adults alike, ensuring that education remains accessible regardless of age or prior academic background. Community Impact Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Professor Adaeze C. JUNI Menakaya emphasized that access to quality education should never be determined by geography or economic circumstance. "My Child Is My Pride is not just our tagline — it is a promise," she said. "Every child in these communities deserves the tools to build a future." The centers will host daily learning sessions, weekly teacher-led workshops, and monthly community engagement activities. Partnerships with local schools and government education boards are already in place to ensure the programs align with national curricula. Looking Ahead The Foundation plans to extend the RURAL+ network to five additional communities within the next twelve months, with a long-term goal of reaching fifty communities across the region by 2030 — in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 on inclusive and equitable quality education.
