The youth of Umunya are stepping into a global conversation — and they are ready to lead. On Saturday, May 30, 2026, the Umunya Village Youth Initiative will host a landmark Post UN ECOSOC Youth Forum Reflection at the St. James Anglican Church Hall, Ojobi Umunya, beginning at 12:00 PM. The event is a powerful homecoming of global ideas, bringing the energy and resolutions of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum directly to a community ready to act on them. About the Event Co-hosted by Bar JUNI and Irene Menakaya Foundation International and the Sub Saharan Open University, Abuja, this forum bridges the gap between international policy dialogue and local grassroots action. It asks a defining question: what does global sustainability mean for the young people of Umunya — and what will they do about it? The theme — "Umunya Youth Shaping the Road for Sustainability: Implication for the 4Es" — anchors every conversation around four pillars at the heart of youth-driven change: Education — Learn & Innovate for the Future Empowerment — Lead & Unite for Change Exchange — Share & Transform Together Entrepreneurship — Create & Sustain Solutions Event Highlights Commissioning of the Umunya Village Youth Initiative Youth-Oriented Village Trophy Competition Umunya Village Youth Initiative Sanitation Club Innovate! Unite! Transform! Inclusion Why This Matters The UN ECOSOC Youth Forum is one of the most significant international platforms where young people engage with global leaders on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). When that dialogue travels home — to a church hall in Umunya — it becomes something far more powerful: a mandate for local action. The Bar JUNI and Irene Menakaya Foundation International is proud to co-host this event as part of its ongoing commitment to education, youth empowerment, and the UN 2030 Agenda. This is the kind of community-rooted action that embodies our motto: My Child Is My Pride. Event Details Date: Saturday, May 30, 2026
